Club Name Patches

Biker club name patches refer to patches that have the organization’s name on it. Not only will the patches vary by design, but the layout may differ too. The following however, should give you an idea of how these are usually laid out and what the road name patches mean.

The Club Patch Design and How it is Worn

The patch will consist of the club name and various symbols that denote what the club is all about. Usually the patch will be positioned in the middle of the back of the leather vest. It is typically set below the shoulder blades.

This is the general rule; but some clubs will have their own rules as to how the patch is set. If you are joining a club, do not make presumptions; ask how to wear it.

Keep in mind that some clubs may give you other patches indicating how long you have been in the group. These won’t have the club name; just the year or how long you’ve been with the organization.

Biker Road Names

Road names are the monikers used by bikers when they are driving. This usually consists of a patch with the moniker inscribed on it. As these are not club names, these can be worn around the shoulders or other parts of the vest. Ask the club to be sure.

The moniker by the way, can be something given by the club or by friends. If the moniker is handed out by the club, it is usually by someone who is in a high position.

Title Patches

Aside from biker club name patches, these groups may also issue title patches. These describe the position by the biker in the club. Club positions can be president, vice president, sergeant at arms and secretary.

How to Set Name and Title Patches

The name / moniker patch are almost always put at the vest’s front left side. Preferably it should be just above the heart. Your club can place it somewhere else but this is ideal as it is where people will first look for identification.

If you have a title to go along with the name, place the title under your name. Make sure the patch is positioned the same way as a name patch.

Club Event Patches

Some motorcycle clubs will host rallies, charity runs or special events. During these occasions special patches are sold in the area. Sometimes club members may be asked to wear patches that will promote the occasion. These are not to be confused with club names; they can be worn just for the occasion, although some riders like to wear as many of these on their jackets.

Warning

Never touch the patch or color of another club. This is a very serious sign of disrespect.

Biker club name patches are used by clubs not just to indicate what their name is. The colors and symbols often express something about the organization. For this reason you need to wear them correctly and show respect.
