Motorcycle Club Pins
A biker club or motorcycle club is made up primarily of people who are interested in motorcycles. There are different motorcycle clubs out there, some are recognized by the American Motorcyclist Association and others are not. There are also biker clubs that are recognized by other clubs mutually. Whether these clubs are mutually recognized or not, they all have a symbol that is common to all of them – the use of motorcycle club pins.
Motorcycle Club Pins and Patches
Both pins and patches are part of the standard colors of biker clubs everywhere. However, do take note that not every motorcycle club is an equivalent of the one percenter or outlaw motorcycle clubs. Putting on MC on your patches and pins do not automatically make you or your club a recognized biker club. In fact, biker clubs are so varied by both their organizations and their objectives.
So, outside of the one percenter or the outlaw subculture, the name, pins, or patches, don’t really have a big meaning behind them. They simply take on the ordinary English meaning of the words when used in everyday speech. Anyone can wear the three-part patch or other designated pins but it takes a true blue biker to let the symbols speak for themselves.
Mainstream Biker Clubs
When you talk about mainstream biker clubs, you are most probably referring to an organization that has a complete set of officers with their leadership elected by the entire group. All the officers and their directors are elected by the general populace constituting the club. These groups also have their own publications that are published on a regular basis.
They also have annual dues imposed on every member of the motorcycle club. These are groups that usually stage rallies with members getting to know and socializing with one another. Their motorcycle club pins usually symbolize what the group stands for.
Manufacturer or Sponsored Colors
Other than stylized motorcycle club pins designed for mainstream groups, there are also patches and pins that are sponsored by different manufacturers. Some motorcycle clubs are also dedicated to these specific marques. Some of these patches and pins are sported by both independent and sponsored biker clubs. This simply means that there may be more than one motorcycle club that uses popular manufacturer pins/patches like BMW or Harley Davidson.
Cause Oriented Pins/Patches
There are also motorcycle club pins that are used by cause-oriented groups. These motorcycle clubs usually serve a specific purpose. For instance, there are motorcycle groups dedicated for medical courier services, some are organized for war veterans, while others take their causes in advocacy of law enforcement officers. As you might expect, their club pins represent their cause.
