How are Motorcycle Patches Worn?
Very often, these patches are set at the back of the vest. It is placed at the center under the shoulder blades. However, there are exceptions to this rule. A name / title patch should is placed in front of the vest. Specifically it is at the left side.
If you have a position in the club (i.e., president, secretary etc), this will be indicated on the patch. Your rank is placed under your name. Memorial patches have no specific layout. They can be put anywhere on the vest. They are used to commemorate dead club members.
Rockers
The rockers are crescent shaped patches located at the top and bottom of the club logo. These designs are called three-piece patches. The top rocker shows the club name. The bottom rocker indicates the state. Most motorcycle clubs use a one or two-piece patch. However, there are also some that use the three-piece patch.
Outlaw Patches
The three-piece patch is most often used by outlaw motorcycle clubs. The three-piece patch is reserved for members; prospects only have the bottom rocker. When their membership is approved, they get the top rocker and club symbol. However, there are non-outlaw groups that also wear this three-piece patch.
Meaning of Popular Outlaw Patches
Please note that the significance of these patches apply only to outlaws. Some custom patches may bear resemblances to these designs. However, it does not necessarily mean the meaning is the same.
The Ace of Spades means the biker is willing to kill for their rights. The number 13 or 13/M stands for marijuana, suggesting the biker is involved in drugs.
Wing patches have different meanings, depending on the color. Most of the time, it refers to achievements made in the club. Swastika patches show the biker’s disregard for the rules of modern society.
The club motorcycle patches are more than just stylish pieces to be worn. They are also used by the members to express themselves. Making your own patch lets you do the same thing.
