Placing Biker Patches
To be a genuine biker, you must know how to place biker patches. There are many kinds of patches, and the type will determine where they need to be set.
Organization and Club Patches
The club will provide you with the club patch. This will have the club’s name and symbol embedded on it. The group will tell you where it is to be placed. Usually it will be positioned at the leather vest’s back. When you get the patch, place it in the middle, just a bit under the shoulder blades.
Keep in mind that some clubs release patches on an annual basis. These patches are small and show how long you have been a member of the organization. The designs will vary per club. Most are just simple rectangles with the year printed on it.
The club will tell you where to put these patches. Usually they have to be set close to the main patch. If you are allowed to choose where these can be placed, plan for it. You could end up with a lot of patches as the years go by.
Custom Patches
If you are not affiliated with any club or organization, you can put the patch anywhere you like. The most popular choice is at the back of the vest, right at the center. Some like to put the patch at the shoulders. But for individual bikers, the choice is really a matter of personal preference.
How to Place Biker Patches with Titles
If you want to put your moniker on a patch, it needs to be positioned at the front left side of your vest. This will be just above the heart. This is a universal standard for obvious reasons; it is where people and fellow bikers will look for identification.
If you have a position in the club (president, vice president, etc), set the position title below your name. The patch should be positioned in the same manner as a name / moniker patch.
Memorial Patches
Memorial patches are worn by bikers in remembrance of deceased members. These can be set anywhere on the vest. The most popular option is to put the patch at the bottom of the vest. This will allow the biker to add more memorial patches if they become necessary.
Other bikers like to spread these memorial patches all over. It is a matter of personal choice. Motorcycle clubs often have specific types of memorial patches you can use.
Travel and Event Patches
These patches are those peddled by vendors at various motorcycle events and rallies. These come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors. Some events will require you to wear the event patch to promote the occasion. These patches can be worn anywhere just like memorial patches. You can put them on any spot and scatter them all over.
Knowing how to place biker patches is required knowledge for any biker. Even if you do not belong to a club, knowing the best place to put them will ensure it gets noticed.
