A Sign of Achievement

Among outlaw clubs, the patches with wings are given to members that have attained success within the group. Thus the wings represent the biker soaring high through the achievements they have made in the organization. The wings symbolize their rise in the club.

The process varies per club, but basically this is how it goes: there are several colored wing patches in the club. The biker will be asked to perform certain tasks. When they succeed, they will be given the wing patch.

The Men of Mayhem patch is awarded to bikers who kill or perpetuate criminal acts for the club. In most cases the biker’s achievement is committing murder. The skull and crossbones is also an “achievement” patch. It is usually handed out by outlaw clubs to members who commit murder and other crimes for the group.

Other Meanings of the Red Wings Biker Patch

There are other possible meanings for the red wings. Some researchers believe the wings and colors are associated with certain sexual rites. The red, green and other wing colors are given to bikers who perform specific acts.

These acts are performed in an act of nihilism. The biker and club show they are nonconformist and through the club, set about their own rules.

However there are also those who believe these interpretations are inaccurate. But even if the reports are not true, the fact that outlaw bikers allow the legends to circulate and continue show their desire to be nonconformist.
