Red Wings Biker Patches
Red wings biker patches and other patches with wings are used by many bikers, including outlaw clubs, those not sanctioned by the AMA (American Motorcyclist Association). While this patch can be used for decorative purposes, it can also have specific meanings for certain clubs.
A Sign of Achievement
Among outlaw clubs, the patches with wings are given to members that have attained success within the group. Thus the wings represent the biker soaring high through the achievements they have made in the organization. The wings symbolize their rise in the club.
These wings therefore, cannot be worn by just any club member; this biker patch is earned. The process varies per club, but basically this is how it goes: there are several colored wing patches in the club. The biker will be asked to perform certain tasks. When they succeed, they will be given the wing patch.
The red color is just one used by these clubs. In some clubs, the red wings imply the highest achievements; in other clubs it may point to specific accomplishments.
Patches with Similar Meanings
Other patches signify achievements within the club. This includes I.T.C.O.B. (“I Took Care of Business”). In this case, the accomplishment usually involves killing someone on behalf of the club.
The Men of Mayhem patch is awarded to bikers who kill or perpetuate criminal acts for the club. In most cases the biker’s achievement is committing murder. The skull and crossbones is also an “achievement” patch. It is usually handed out by outlaw clubs to members who commit murder and other crimes for the group.
Other Meanings of the Red Wings Biker Patch
There are other possible meanings for the red wings. Some researchers believe the wings and colors are associated with certain sexual rites. The red, green and other wing colors are given to bikers who perform specific acts.
These acts are performed in an act of nihilism. The biker and club show they are nonconformist and through the club, set about their own rules.
However there are also those who believe these interpretations are inaccurate. But even if the reports are not true, the fact that outlaw bikers allow the legends to circulate and continue show their desire to be nonconformist.
The red wings biker patch and the other wing patches can be understood in different ways. It can mean performing major accomplishments for the club or doing certain tasks. The wings patches may also be indicative of sexual rites and rituals, which show how varied the interpretation can be.
